Thymosine ß4 is a shorter protein binding to actin, but different proteins too. T-ß4 is an intrinsically disordered protein (IDP) of moonlighting characteristics, studied in collaboration with the Tompa’s group (Inst. of Enzymology) and found that it binds to PINCH, ILK and stabilin-2. Week, transient and fuzzy interactions were observed and thus, tß4 is capable of mediating distinct yet specific contacts without adapting stable 3D structures of any kind.
